Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, said "As you know, I've been working continually to improve healthcare in our area.

"While we had the knockback of the Day Case Unit, I promised to keep fighting for further investment, and I'm pleased to see we have managed to secure Hinckley's place in the first tranche of Neighbourhood Health Centres - something I've been campaigning for since the announcement of the NHS 10-year plan.

"While it's still early days and the details are being ironed out, I'm pleased to see the Government is listening to me, the NHS and our community about the importance of increased investment in this site and what it could offer.

"I'm keen to keep this momentum up and will be working to do so - there's still a long way to go.

"I'm pleased to have been recognised by the Labour Government as being 'steadfast in your commitment to raising the needs of Hinckley and Bosworth', and will continue to work hand in glove with the NHS and other stakeholders to ensure we get improved healthcare in our area."
