The refurbished clubhouse at Hinckley Town Cricket Club opened in May with an afternoon tea for 65 guests and a game of cricket, from which Hinckley were the victors.

Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, joined Club members and sponsors at the official opening of the club house.

The refurbished clubhouse features a new bar, large balcony area and disabled-friendly access, with the local MP saying “it really is a showpiece for our community.”

Commenting on the success of the day, Vicky Macqueen, Club Commercial Manager, said the reopening would benefit the community “physically, socially and emotionally”, explaining that the “real victory of the day was the community now having the cricket club back in action and thriving.”

The Club welcomed Paul Nixon, Ex-England Cricketer who played his first game for Leicestershire County at Hinckley Town Cricket Club, as the guest speaker. Macqueen said Nixon “thought the set-up was amazing and was thrilled to see Hinckley back up and running again.”

Hinckley Town Cricket Club are actively recruiting players. The hope is that, with the new clubhouse, HTCC will continue to grow from strength to strength, both on and off the field.

Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, said “It was a privilege to join the Chairman, President and sponsors at the official opening of the clubhouse and to hear what having the refurbished facility means to members and players.

“It’s a beautiful setting which I’m sure will be well-used by our community for many years to come.

“Well done to John, Paul, Vicky, Jodie and everyone in the Club for their perseverance. It’s a great achievement and I look forward to seeing the team grow!”

Vicky Macqueen, Hinckley Town Cricket Club Commercial Manager, said "The event was a very special day that marked the rejuvenation of our cricket community, bringing everyone back together with the common goal to bring the cricket club back to life.

“We would like to thank all our sponsors who have contributed, and all the numerous volunteers who have contributed their time to the huge project headed up by John Tilley, HTCC Chairman, and also Barry Orton, Head Groundsman, who has been focusing on keeping the grounds beautiful!

“We are very grateful to Drs Luke and Charlie Evans who came to support the event with our sponsors and guests."
