Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, visited Reglaze Glasses Direct, the UK’s biggest reglazing specialists, at their base in Market Bosworth.

Phil Batham, an optician with 20 years of experience at Specsavers, noticed a gap in the market and an opportunity to offer an online reglazing service for customers, which prompted him to start the business in 2007.

Since opening in 2007, Reglaze Glasses Direct have reglazed hundreds of thousands of glasses.

Speaking about the idea behind Reglaze Glasses Direct, Phil Batham said “Many people loved their existing frames but were frustrated at having to replace them entirely just to update their prescription. I recognised there was a smarter, more sustainable and cost-effective solution; replacing the lenses while keeping the frames customers already know and love.”

The online service offered by the team aims to make the process simple. Customers place an order online with details of their prescription. They are then sent pre-paid packaging for the glasses. Once the glasses arrive at the lab in Market Bosworth, the brand-new lenses are fit into their existing frames.

The glasses are carefully checked and returned by post, ready to wear.
